A view of the city of spires | Mamaison Riverside Hotel, Prague
Apprx. Reading Time: 2 minutes
Prague, the city of 1000 spires has innumerable bridges that go over the Vltava River. Each day numerous tourists flock to them, waiting patiently for sunrise/sunset with their loved ones, manifesting that Prague is truly a destination for the romantic at heart.
While you can’t possibly stay by the bridges at all times, it definitely helps if you can take all the views in from your own terrace!
The best bit of my stay at the Mamaison Riverside Hotel in Prague was my very own balcony, however, the facade of the Mamaison Hotel Riverside was quite impressive too! The clouds were getting ready for another spell of rain and yellow and green coloured lights, lit the facade causing it to look quite spectacular.
After a speedy check-in, we headed to our room. The room itself was very spacious and the bed huge. Velvety drapes hung around making the high ceilings look even taller. The bathroom had a large tub and a shower cubicle and 2 basins. While I’ve never come across this before I was quite happy with the arrangement which ensured neither of us delayed the other while we got ready to explore the city the next day.
Breakfast was a hearty affair with some very tasty Czech sausages, lots of fruit and cold cuts. After having my fill, I went to get a glass of beer in the lounge which was also done in red and noticed some guests already enjoying a pint. As I headed back to the room, I couldn’t help but notice a huge painting which sat in the lobby which was on sale. It was quite exquisite and after admiring it for a while I headed back and took a seat in the balcony.
The best bit of my stay at the Mamaison Riverside Hotel in Prague was the balcony. The hotel is located 2-minutes away from The Dancing House, which is one attraction quite popular with the tourists. While I myself did not investigate why, the house itself is very peculiar and fascinating. A number of other colourful buildings sit alongside The Dancing House, making it a very picturesque scene.
I sat for a while admiring the view before realising it was time to head off to the city to explore it more.
The hotel was located a short walk from the Petrin tower, however, we crossed over the bridge and caught one of the trams and about 2 minutes later were in the old town square. We passed by Tyn Cathedral watching as tourists gathered around to watch the astronomical clock strike the hour. We then headed on a hunt for David Cerny’s sculptures around the city, realising that most of the times we passed by the same tram station where we got on first in the morning!
After heading back after a very tiring day it was a good feeling to realise that even though I was back a bird’s eye view of the city was available whenever I felt I hadn’t had enough!
